The chairman of the Republican Committee of the BTUHW Viačaslaŭ Šyla, Deputy Minister of Health Barys Andrasiuk and the rector of the Belarusian State Medical University Siarhiej Rubnikovič attended the Spartakiad opening ceremony.
Sports competitions among health care institutions are a long established trade union tradition. Medical workers prove by personal example the importance of maintaining health and its constant strengthening. The epidemiological situation caused by COVID-19 paused trade union sporting events last year.
However, as the chairman of the branch trade union Viačaslaŭ Šyla noted while welcoming the participants of the Republican Spartakiad of healthcare workers and workers of the physical culture and sports club "Sanitas" among PTUOs on professional service in the RC BTUHW, seeing the mood of labor collectives and the desire of the health trade union members to return to a normal, familiar life, the decision to hold the XIII Republican Spartakiad of healthcare workers and workers of the physical culture and sports club "Sanitas" at the end of May 2021 in Pinsk has been made.
According to him, the current competition is a qualifying round, and it will allow the Republican Committee of the BTUHW to form a strong team.
This year, 24 teams of doctors from the capital's healthcare institutions will measure strength, agility and endurance in ten sports disciplines. More than 500 athletes have been registered for the competition.
Belarusian State Medical University provided comprehensive assistance in organizing such a mass event. The main specialized university of the country supplied an excellent base of its sports campus where they hosted the participants of the European Games, equipment and help from volunteer students.
The rector of the university Siarhiej Rubnikovič said that not only students but also workers of practical healthcare actively do sports in the new sports complex of Belarusian State Medical University. Rubnikovich believes that today’s event emphasizes the role of sports and physical culture in the life of doctors, and all the participants of the Spartakiad are an example for the BSMU students of what a healthy lifestyle a doctor should lead.
Deputy Minister of Healthcare Barys Andrasiuk emphasized the unifying power of sport and the significant work performed in this direction by the Belarusian Trade Union of Healthcare Workers and wished all participants bright emotions, sports passion and victory for the strongest.
On the eve of the official opening, the best athletes and teams in bullet shooting, swimming, billiards, table tennis and darts have already been identified.
In the next two days, the names of the winners in athletics, kettlebell lifting, volleyball and mini-football will be announced.
