Urology is a medical science that studies abnormalities in the development, disease, and damage to the urogenital system in men, the urinary system in women, and related pathological processes in the retroperitoneal fiber. More than a hundred years ago, the discipline stood out from surgery as an independent specialty, and although some diseases of the genitourinary organs are treated with conservative methods at a certain stage of their development, the main direction in the treatment of urological diseases is operational.

The history of the department is the history of the formation of Belarusian urology. On the basis of the department, under the leadership of the Department of Urology, MSMI, all the main methods of examination and treatment of patients with urological pathology were mastered and put into practice. The methods of treatment of patients with congenital anomalies of the urinary organs, neurogenic disorders of urination, urinary stone disease, benign prostatic hyperplasia, urooncology, urogynecology are introduced.

A full range of medical diagnostic equipment, laboratory and instrumental studies and the professionalism of our specialists guarantee a safe and painless conduct of all urological operations. The use of the latest physiotherapeutic procedures will minimize the time of postoperative rehabilitation.

Based on a cystoscopic cabinet since August 2014, the urodynamic room is functioning to study the lower urinary tract urodynamics.

The following researches have been introduced into the work of the department: uroflowmetry, filling cystometry, pressure-flow research in combination with cutaneous electromyography, urethral profilometry.

The department is constantly being improved and updated, keeping traditions, striving for high and good peaks called medicine.
