The history of the cardiology service of the hospital is inextricably linked with the development of one of the country's leading institutions – the Republican Scientific and Practical Center “Cardiology”. On the basis of the cardiology departments of the hospital in August 1977 with the active participation of Professor H. Sidarenka (headed and for many years led its work), the Belarusian Research Institute of Cardiology was created. In subsequent years, taking into account the demands of practical health care and the need for scientific cardiological research in the Republic of Belarus, a number of laboratories were organized, which are currently part of the RSPCC.

Currently, the department is redeveloped into a cardiology (heart attack) department for 81 beds, of which 6 are intensive care unit beds. On the basis of the department there is a department of cardiology and internal diseases of BSMU, which is headed by professor, MD, N.P. Mićkoŭskaja. And since 2017, the Department of General Medical Practice at the Faculty of Advanced Studies and Retraining of BSMU, the head of the department is Associate Professor, Candidate of Medical Sciences V.E. Sušynski. Also, on the basis of the department, leading scientific workers of the RSPC “Cardiology” Candidate of Medical Sciences I.S. Karpava, MD J. Atroščanka carry out consultations.
