
The history of the department dates back to 1982, when the Urology Clinic of Minsk State Medical Institute acquired the Japanese echocardiograph Aloka SSD-110 S. A senior researcher at the kidney transplantation laboratory Pilatovič V. and doctor of the nephrological department Pačtaŭcaŭ A. began mastering the basics of echolocation diagnostics on the echocardiograph.
Since 1984, thanks to the effective help of the head of the clinic, professor, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the BSSR M. Saŭčanka, the urological building of the clinic was equipped with more modern equipment, and it was then that for the first time in Belarus endovascular bladder echoscopy, transrectal examination of the prostate and seminal vesicles, intraoperative renal echoscopy began to be used.
In 1986, an ultrasound diagnostic room was organized in the 4th City Clinical Hospital under the direction of Šablinski Ja In 1991, on his initiative, in the Healthcare Institution “4th City Clinical Hospital named after M. Saŭčanka”, an independent department of ultrasound endosurgery was organized.
Since January 2002, the department the first in the Republic of Belarus has begun to work around the clock.
Currently, the department is headed by a doctor of ultrasound diagnostics (manager) Kupava Aliesia Paŭlaŭna and senior nurse Iryna Mikalajeŭna Furs.
The department has four ultrasound diagnostic rooms, a surgical room for performing surgeries under echoscopic control, and a 24-hour emergency echoscopy room, which conducts ultrasound examinations of the abdominal region and retroperitoneal space, thyroid gland, mammary gland, prostate gland, organs of the scrotum and soft tissues, uterus and appendages.
The staff of the department makes a lot of efforts to improve its work in providing highly qualified care for patients in echolocation diagnostics, and providing surgical aids in the field of minimally invasive surgery.
